The Block 2022 Week 7 Kitchen Reveals Recap
We’re in awe of the kitchen reveals this week on The Block – check out our recap below and let us know which was your favourite!
The Block 2022 Week 7 – Tom and Sarah-Jane (House 1)
Luxury, luxury, luxury was what Tom and Sarah-Jane showed us this week with their Kitchen Reveal. Once again, they outdid themselves! House 1 blew all three judges’ minds. Having their kitchen situated to the north and west, alongside having their butler’s kitchen facing the east was spectacular with all windows allowing the natural light beam right through and showing off their luxury kitchen. Neale wished there was another word he could use instead of ‘wow’ because it just didn’t cut it, he was left speechless. Neale also added that Tom and Sarah-Jane really allowed that impeccable contemporary country vibe. The functionality of their kitchen included prep space and the cleaning zone perfectly.
‘BAM! my mind exploded’ was exactly what was said by Darren when walking into House 1 Butler’s Pantry. We couldn’t agree more. This was a kitchen that was going to be hard to beat as all three judges agreed. Having the tilt and turn windows situated in both their kitchen and butler’s pantry was a fantastic choice in functionality also. They were not wrong, and yet again Tom and Sarah-Jane came through for the second time in a row as the winners.
The Block 2022 Week 7 – Rachael & Ryan (House 2)
Rachael started the week off exhausted and tired having her son being unwell made her feel as though she wasn’t giving her kitchen reveal all of her. To top it off, her stone bench arrived but was 20mm shorter than expected which didn’t allow the mood to get any better for House 2. Everything seemed to come together with their bench top tragedy at 11 pm finally completely installed with the correct measurements. Unfortunately, House 2 had so much go wrong throughout the week and the judges weren’t completely impressed with the result.
Shayna wasn’t fascinated with the choice of pendant lights as well as some coloured silicon missing around the kitchen. Neale didn’t feel as though their kitchen was welcoming. Shayna also added ‘that view is phenomenal’ through the Tilt and Turn windows, however, the timber bench was not functional as a plate wouldn’t fit to eat. Rachael and Ryan didn’t agree and believe they tested a plate on the timber bench and there was no issue. Darren also found that the cupboards and timber shelves were too high and not functional.
House 2 however had better feedback with phenomenal windows allowing space to look at the view of Gisborne. Darren loved the luxury of the space, however, Neale disagreed by adding that there should have been a potential oak barn door as a visual barrier between the Kitchen and Butler’s Pantry. Overall, the space did look impressive, but better luck next time.
The Block 2022 Week 7 – Ankur & Sharon (House 3)
Ankur and Sharon had much more positive feedback compared to last week, considering House 3 only had 5 hours of sleep. Shayna instantly felt that ‘grand entrance’ and Neale loved the choice of the elegant pendants. Although Shayna wasn’t super impressed with the styling of the Kitchen, overall, the judges did agree that being able to stand by the bench and look at the view through the triple glazed windows was phenomenal.
Similarly, House 3 had been criticised over the choice of styling in the Butler’s Pantry. Neale added that it simply looked unforgivably messy and there was too much clutter which made the room feel smaller than it really was. We personally loved the white uPVC framed triple glazed windows in the butler’s pantry, who wouldn’t want to watch the view of Gisborne while sneaking in a snack?
The Block 2022 Week 7 – Dylan & Jenny (House 4)
Jenny and Dylan started the week off with some tragedy as they had some ceiling issues which could have set them back in time. It didn’t end there for House 4 as they had a late-night noise complaint which also set them back. Lucky for House 4, Ronnie jumped in to help with the plastering, and Jenny was super appreciative. Surprisingly with all the frustration in preparation for their kitchen reveal, Darren instantly walked in touching absolutely everything!
Neale felt that House 4 did an incredible job by allowing him to feel it is a real authentic country kitchen. Darren agreed and said, ‘it’s contemporary, country Australian, this is just gold’. Having the sink right in front of the tilt and turn windows was a fantastic choice. Who wouldn’t love washing their dishes in that view?
Walking into the Butler Pantry, Shayna screamed ‘love, love, love!’ Having the bench top all along one side where the triple glazed windows were situated as well as having them larger than the other butler’s pantries was a fantastic choice. Neale had lots to say about the butler’s pantry ‘massive buyers appeal’, ‘pulls at the heartstrings,’ and that ‘that this was yet the best room delivered by House 4’. Darren added that it was the ‘perfect country choice’. Congratulations Jenny and Dylan!
The Block 2022 Week 7 – Omar & Oz (House 5)
House 5 started off with a pleasant surprise as Oz’s wife and kids surprised him with a visit while Omar was super confident that House 5 was going to be known as the ‘kitchen ambassadors’, considering they had a $250,000 Kitchen. The boys were so sure that they would win this week as they love their mother’s cooking and knew exactly what a kitchen needed for great food. But did they win the hearts of the judges? Well, Darren upon entry said ‘oh my God,’ then walked over to the sink and continued ‘this is nuts.’
The boys knew how to bring a sink together – with enough space to do whatever the menu required. Shayna also added that House 5 went with a dark and moody look which she loved as well as the timber ceiling! Neale mentioned the kitchen was ‘contemporary but aesthetic’. Shayna loved the amount of light that was beaming through the kitchen.
The boys did well also in their butler’s pantry. We loved the elegantly placed windows for some light and functionality. Darren added that this Kitchen was going to sell this house! Well done boys it was close, but you guys just missed out on becoming first this week.
