Box Hill South
I work night shifts and need to get my rest during the day, so I used Thermotek Windows Double Glazed Windows and doors to keep the noise out of the room….. It is very impressive how well this has worked. I can barely hear any noise coming through and no draught at all anymore. Not only that but I have noticed a sufficient difference in keeping the temperature under control in that area.’ – Pye
THE PROBLEM
Customer had single glazed aluminum windows; these are the “standard” cheap and basic windows that we often come across. They are generally about 3-4mm thick glass and let a lot of nuisance noise in.
OUR SOLUTION
We recommend Black uPVC windows and doors with 6.38 Laminate on the external glass panel to help with noise issues for Pye, this will help significantly reduce the noise issues and he will have the added benefit of thermal efficiency along with maintenance free windows/doors.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDED
Black uPVC windows and doors, the options give the best ventilation for the size and position of the window, we also recommended a bi-folding doors to get the biggest opening possible and to have a very versatile option.
Key locking handles to all windows to help enhance security.
SPECS OF THE PRODUCT
The customised IGU (insulated glass unit) used, is made up of a 4mm pane with a 16mm argon gas filled gap and 6.38 laminated pane on the outside.
Using uPVC double glazed windows we can achieve a great u value of 2.3. The u-value is the amount of heat transferred through a material. The lower the u-value, the slower the rate of heat flow and the better the insulating quality (therefore the lower the u-value the better!). The solar heat gain coefficient or SHGC is also nice and low at 0.43. This is the percentage of heat gained from both direct sunlight and absorbed heat. Again, the smaller the number, the greater the ability to reduce solar heat gain.
