My main issue when going to Thermotek Windows was draught and temperature control, I have some big windows in my living room and in winter it gets freezing in there and summer it’s really hot. Manny did a great job educating me on all the benefits that double glazing brings. I can now keep warm on cold mornings and cool on hot afternoons, it’s much easier to keep the space at a good temperature. I’m really impressed with the look of the front door, it’s big, open and bold. The whole look opens the area up a lot more. Thank you.’ – Allan
THE PROBLEM
Customer had single glazed aluminium windows, he had a lot of windows that really let his property down thermally. Cold nights would be freezing in his home and warm days would warm up and be far too hot to be comfortable.
OUR SOLUTION
We recommend White uPVC windows and doors for Allan, double glazing greatly improves thermal efficiency and the uPVC frames are jam packed full of thermal benefits, they also provide the extra comfort of security.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDED
White uPVC windows and doors, we used a combination of different style windows to suit the home and ensure the best outcome for each window. This enabled us to achieve the best ventilation and keep the practical style windows in use. Key locking handles to all windows to help enhance security.
SPECS OF THE PRODUCT
The IGU (insulated glass unit) used, is made up of a 4mm Low E pane with a 16mm argon gas filled gap and 4mm pane on the outside.
Using uPVC double glazed windows we can achieve a great u-value of 1.7. The u-value is the amount of heat transferred through a material. The lower the u-value, the slower the rate of heat flow and the better the insulating quality (therefore the lower the u-value the better!) To give you a rough idea of how great that result is, a standard single pane window generally sits around the u-value of 7.
The solar heat gain coefficient or SHGC is also nice and low at 0.37. This is the percentage of heat gained from both direct sunlight and absorbed heat. Again smaller the number, the greater the ability to reduce solar heat gain.
