The Block 2022 Week 11 – Guest Bedroom and Redo Room Recap

The Blockheads were busy having their houses looked at last week and everyone wanted to impress Danny the buyer, from Jenny grabbing his hot latte with no sugar, to Ryan wanting to buy his breakfast. The guest bedroom and redo room reveals were the focus this week. The judges seemed to be more positive towards the redo rooms than they were initially.

The Block 2022 Week 11 – Tom and Sarah-Jane (House 1)

This week Tom and Sarah-Jane were asked to redo their living and dining area. Were the judges impressed? They were! Neil acted instantly by commenting how it now ‘felt cosier’ and Shaynna agreed by adding ‘this makes me smile.’ Overall House 1 did an incredible job with their redo room by keeping everything that worked and fixing everything that didn’t as Neil mentioned. Shaynna adored the triple-glazed windows while Darren added ‘this room is remarkably remarkable’.

Following into their guest bedroom, the patterned wallpaper was loved by Darren. Neil also added that both Tom and Sarah-Jane’s rooms were always very consistent, all their colours and patterns are always so mixed up, but it simply works. The House 1 bedroom was a success yet again with its well-designed, different yet still connected vision.

House 1 was super close but ended up in a tie with House 2. Which meant that they shared the $10,000 cash from Ford and received $5,000 of it. Well done to house 1.

The Block 2022 Week 11 – Rachael & Ryan (House 2)

House 2, Ryan and Rachael made it to the top this week winning with House 1, Tom and Sarah-Jane. House 2 also showed its extraordinary vision. Firstly, the guest bedroom was loved by all three judges. Shaynna walked in screaming ‘I love it,’ while Neil agreed and said he would love to unpack his bags in this room. The only negative that caught the judge’s eyes was that the shelf was too high; they either needed to lower it down a little or add another shelf next to it.

All three judges agreed however that the shelf did work well with the rest of their rooms as House 2 incorporated the same timber feel to all their shelving throughout the house.

Furthermore, entering their redo room Neil agreed on the change of the wall paint as requested by Darren and Shaynna that it was a nice change but wasn’t the best change. Shaynna was horrified by Neils’s decision as she absolutely loved the colour chosen and believed it suited the wardrobes a whole lot better. Overall the judges did have one point to agree on and that was that the aesthetic of this room suited the rest of their rooms. Well done House 2 for coming through with the goods and for a great win this week.

The Block 2022 Week 11 – Ankur & Sharon (House 3)

House 3, Ankur and Sharon had a rough week again this week with not much money to work with and only spending what Scotty approved of. While the potential buyers during the week had a look at their property Sharon and Ankur both found the need to repeatedly remind the buyers that their block was the biggest on The Block, let’s hope this helps House 3 on auction day.

House 3 chose a pink wall and pink décor for their guest bedroom. Neil wasn’t too impressed however Darren thought it looked pretty, Shaynna on the other hand agreed with Neil and explained that it wasn’t great making a guest bedroom look like a child’s room and explained that this is how you do not put a room together. Overall, the judges all agreed that the room didn’t look nor feel luxe, especially the amore rug they decided to use which didn’t make much sense to the judges.

Moving along to Ankur and Sharon’s redo living and dining room the judges loved the choice of a mirror instead of artwork and loved what House 3 had done to fix their living and dining area. Darren was a massive fan, walking in and screaming ‘hooray.’ However the one feedback all three judges advised was to add more décor to this space. Well done House 3.

The Block 2022 Week 11 – Dylan & Jenny (House 4)

For House 4, Jenny and Dylan’s guest bedroom was a hit for all three judges. Neil yet again wanted to throw his bags in this room. Shaynna absolutely loved the bedroom. The only negative Neil found was the choice of artwork which seemed too bright for this room but otherwise, everything was a tick of the box for him.

Moving into House 4s redo room, Shaynna walked in surprised and said, ‘this is different.’ It was completely different to what the judges had originally seen. Neil agreed and said ‘it’s totally different,’ this was a great sign as in the previous weeks the judges all wanted to see a much more contemporary look rather than the classic look that was presented to them. Dylan and Jenny had changed everything in this room and the judges loved it. Green touches of décor throughout the house really complimented the green kitchen which showed the luxury of the house.

Darren’s one negative feedback was that the two chairs facing the living room were not the best idea. Although the living area was phenomenal, he would much prefer to face the window and see the sensational view of Gisborne instead. Jenny knew it was going to be an issue for at least one of the judges. Overall Darren did add that everything that was wrong in this room was now all right. Well done to House 4 although they didn’t win this week the judges were impressed with their result.

The Block 2022 Week 11 – Omar & Oz (House 5)

House 5, Omar and Oz were told by Scotty earlier in the week that they were needing to cut down on their spending; the boys’ tradies weren’t too happy with that. Jokingly Omar offered his tradesmen a trip to Bali if they could decrease their price.

The judges adored the choice of wallpaper, thankful it was not rendered and saw they were saving money. The wallpaper really suited the rest of the house which was a massive tick. Neil added that this room was very fresh and contemporary; the colours and textures chosen were fabulous. The only negative feedback for this room was by Darren explaining that he didn’t like that the shelf was empty and only had a few décors, he wished there was more given to them.

Following through into their redo bedroom the boys took the feedback weeks back, in regard to the study space that the judges didn’t like and felt was too cluttered. They turned it into a “his and hers” wardrobe. Did the judges like it? They definitely loved it compared to the idea of a desk area, however, the doors couldn’t open completely, and neither were the drawers – the boys will need to fix this issue for the owners to use the wardrobes provided.  Overall, the judges were impressed by its original presentation and all agreed that the DNA with the other rooms had all the same aesthetic, almost like siblings – this was a positive. Fantastic presentation this week, House 5.
