Enjoy summer even more with double glazed uPVC windows

Many of us love all things summer: barbeques, swimming pools and ice cream! Yet summer also brings with it extreme weather, excess noise and an increase in your power bills. Australian’s are often hard hit when it comes to the heat, and this year already has been no exception. Double glazing provides relief to the negatives of summertime. So you can enjoy the warmer months in comfort! Read on to find out how best to enjoy your summer with double glazed uPVC windows.

Keeping Your Home Cool

Staying cool is one of the biggest struggles we face during the summer season. There is nothing worse than a 45-degree day spent in front of a fan or cooling unit. This is where double glazing, uPVC framed windows come in.

Double glazing windows consist of two panes of glass, separated by insulating gas. The insulating properties of the gas mean the heat cannot transfer into your home. This keeps your home cool and the temperature even. Single panes of glass will draw the heat into your home. This diminishes the effectiveness of any fans or cooling units.

Double glazing helps regulate the temperature inside your home. It provides a cost-effective solution to staying cool summer round. uPVC framing adds to the insulating properties with its airtight seal. No hot air can sneak in through cracks or let cool air escape.

Filtering UV Rays

Did you know UV rays can have negative effects on your health, even while you’re inside your home? Not only that, strong UV rays can also damage your furniture and flooring if exposed for a long time.

UV rays are at their worst in the summer months. One pane of glass is usually not enough to filter out all potential UV rays. During those high percentage months, UV radiation from the sun can be harmful to your health. Eye damage, amongst other things, is a potential danger. Your furniture and flooring are also at risk of fading under UV rays.

Double glazed windows can filter out at least 50% of UV rays. This will have immediate effects on your home and your health. The lifetime of your furniture and carpet is also extended. Save money in the long run while caring for the health of your loved ones.

Lower Cooling Bills

Double glazing provides many benefits. The insulation does more than keep your home cool. At Thermotek, we understand the struggle of running fans or cooling units 24/7 during summer. This can amount to a hefty electricity bill. In fact, the average central air conditioning unit runs for 9 hours a day, using up to 45 kWh of energy per day.

Double glazed windows with uPVC frames keep the heat out. Your cooling won’t have to be on half as long to achieve the same results. You can also feel the difference in temperature regulation. Those rooms without direct cooling will stay cool too.

Increased Security

The security of your home is an important priority. uPVC framed double glazed windows can help. Crime rates increase in summer for many reasons. One reason is that travellers often leave their homes unattended while on holiday. The two panes of glass create a challenge for burglars, as they are harder to break through, noisy and messy. uPVC framing also has its own security features. When installed in the correct way it is resistant to potential break-ins. You cannot pull it away from the wall.

Double glazing and uPVC are tough and weather-resistant. They will last for years without warping under humidity or harsh conditions. Your home is safer having double glazed, uPVC framed windows installed. It’s never too late to make the change.

Noise Reduction

Summertime often brings out the neighbours and increases traffic. It isn’t unheard of for the noise outside your home to increase during these warmer days and nights. This can create disturbances within your home. Double glazing reduces the noise in your home up to 70%. With the insulating gas and glass pane, noise levels will reduce.

By reducing noise, you can relax in your home undisturbed year-round, and feel at peace any time of day.

Australian Made Double Glazing

With summer around the corner, now is the time to speak to an Australian double glazing company. Make the most of the warmer months. When purchasing double glazing products, it is best to buy Australian made designs. Overseas products are not made for the harsh Australian climate. They have a shorter lifespan and are not as effective in protecting your home from UV rays.

Australian made double glazing windows withstand the changing and challenging climate. Supporting local businesses also has many other benefits. Lowering the carbon footprint and helping boost the local economy, to name a few.
