Top 8 Reasons To Choose Thermotek Smart Slide Systems

Australian design is all about bringing the outside in. These days, designing a stylish home with plenty of natural light in living spaces doesn’t mean compromising on sustainable design. Thermotek’s Smart Slide window-door systems help improve energy efficiency while giving architects and builders lots of room for creative design.

Let’s take a look at eight excellent reasons to select these beautiful state-of-the-art sliding systems for your residential or commercial building projects.

#1: Innovative, Sustainable Materials

The design of Thermotek door and window systems is a fusion of precision German engineering and local Australian craftsmanship. Manufactured in our local facility in Melbourne, these systems are painstakingly constructed to ensure optimum thermal efficiency and energy conservation.

We use sustainable uPVC for the frames of Thermotek windows. It is a resilient material that provides outstanding insulation at an affordable price point compared to other eco-friendly materials like thermally broken aluminium. Our uPVC window frames are meticulously designed to prioritise heat insulation, structural integrity, and impeccable sealing.

uPVC is ‘Unplasticised’ polyvinyl chloride. Unlike standard PVC, it is made without chemical plasticisers. Instead, uPVC harnesses potent impact enhancers and fillers in its production, producing a strong and resistant construction material. Remarkably, uPVC’s strength actually increases with each recycling iteration, although by a little less each time.

Its surface hardness rivals that of aluminium, making it ideal for the production of our sliding door systems.

#2: Energy Efficiency

Thermotek’s Smart Slide systems are designed to be highly energy-efficient, helping to reduce heating and cooling costs.

Thermotek products also help meet the energy efficiency requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC). The 2022 updates which came into force in May 2023 made two key changes to residential works, including apartment buildings:

  1. Thermal performance requirements were raised to 7 stars under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS).
  2. A new Whole-of-Home Rating must be met by new homes. This applies to heating and cooling, hot water systems, lighting, swimming pool and spa pumps, windows, and doors. Renewable and sustainable energy systems, such as solar panels, aren’t mandatory but can be installed to keep a home’s energy under budget.

Thermotek Smart Slide systems help meet the NCC requirements by improving overall energy efficiency. They possess advanced insulation properties that prevent air from seeping in or out and minimise heat transfer. This mitigates the need for heating and cooling devices, lowering the overall carbon footprint and energy bills.

The uPVC used has high thermal insulation properties, consisting of various fusion welded air chambers. These give a superior seal which increases insulation, and the dual TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) seals further enhance thermal performance.

The gap between the two panes in Thermotek windows is the main source of insulation, which slows down thermal transfer by conduction. The systems slow down air circulation to reduce the amount of heat lost in winter and gained in summer.

In winter, when cold air hits the first windowpane, it doesn’t reach the inside environment. Instead, it reaches the gas or air between the panes. By the time it hits the second pane, it is no longer freezing cold.

Thus, Thermotek Smart Slide systems keep your home’s temperature more stable, plus cut down the number of times a heating/cooling system must be used – in fact, they may not be needed at all.

#3: User Friendly

No matter your size and strength, the Smart Slide systems are engineered to be easy to slide open and shut. Even in their largest dimensions of 6.5 x 2.8m, the door can be opened and closed without effort.
The Smart Slide and Lift and Slide systems feature an innovative locking system with a self-closing sash that slides into the frame with a soft motion.

#4: Beautiful Aesthetics

Beyond their seamless functionality, Thermotek Smart Slide Systems are a stylish addition to the aesthetics of any space.

The Lift and Slide system is specially designed as a door for patios, balconies, and gardens. They are a fantastic way to allow natural light in and also to ensure a smooth transition to the outside, thanks to very wide opening angles. The sash slides parallel to the fixed pane of glass, which means it does not occupy any extra space.

Thanks to their promotion of great insulation and airtightness, Smart Slide windows also create a cosy dwelling with excellent year-round thermal comfort.

Double or triple-glazed windows also often possess soundproofing properties, making them effective in reducing noise pollution from outside sources. Smart Slide systems create a peaceful living environment while still allowing residents to open up a room and “let the outside in” when desired.

Whether you’re considering Smart Slide systems for a residential property, a commercial space, or a hospitality venue, Thermotek’s design choices are versatile and stylish enough to fit a wide range of applications. Their adaptability makes them an ideal choice for homeowners, architects, interior designers, and business owners alike. Designers can choose from an array of architectural and woodgrain colours, such as Alpine Oak, Golden Oak, Anthracite Grey, Granite Grey, and Ash Grey.

The sleek design and minimalistic appearance of the sliding doors and windows blend seamlessly with contemporary architecture, enhancing the visual appeal of homes, offices, and other structures.

#6: Reduced Maintenance

Thanks to the tough materials used in their construction, Thermotek Smart Slide systems require minimal maintenance and stand the test of time with little upkeep required.

uPVC is robust and durable and – unlike many traditional materials – it is highly resistant to moisture, corrosion, and fading, which means that Thermotek Smart Slide systems won’t warp, rot, or degrade over time.

Furthermore, uPVC’s smooth surface and resilience to environmental elements make it naturally resistant to dirt and grime build-up. This reduces the need for frequent cleaning.

The Smart Slide systems’ effective sealing and precision engineering also play a role in minimising maintenance. The high level of engineering helps prevent drafts, leaks, and other issues that might necessitate regular attention. The doors harness stable hardware, concealed in the background for a superior experience that requires little maintenance.

#7: Enhanced Security

Installing Thermotek Smart Slide systems means taking advantage of state-of-the-art engineering and locking systems to protect your home or establishment.

A range of elements contribute to enhanced security. The innovative locking mechanism keeps intruders out, while the high-quality materials used in construction also mean they’re difficult to tamper with. Double or triple-glazed glass adds another layer of protection, as it’s harder for intruders to break through.

#8: Long-Term Value

Finally, investing in Thermotek Smart Slide Systems translates to long-term value. The durability of the systems, coupled with their advanced technology, ensures that your investment will pay off over the years.

The enhanced security, energy efficiency, and convenience they offer can potentially lead to reduced maintenance costs and utility bills.

As consumers begin to put sustainability at the top of their shopping lists, property investors will be on the lookout for high-quality sustainable design that is built to last. Long-term savings on energy bills and positives for the environment make Thermotek Smart Slide systems a sound investment.
