How much do uPVC windows cost?

How much do uPVC windows cost?

When it comes to an investment such as uPVC windows, the most common consideration is price. Investing in an upgrade to your home is no small decision, and therefore it’s important to understand how much it’s going to cost. Upgrades and customisable features such as colour, size and design all play their part in the final cost of uPVC double-glazed windows, so it is hard to find an average price range for everyone. Understanding the lifelong benefits of installing uPVC double-glazed windows into your home or new build is important. Read on to find out more about the cost of uPVC, and the benefits it provides your home!

Benefits of uPVC Double Glazing

uPVC is a durable framing product, often used thanks to its hardiness and low maintenance qualities. Not only is uPVC available in a range of styles, it provides a water-tight seal on your windows, improving insulation, noise reduction and safety. Double glazing refers to a window with two panes of glass instead of one, separated by vacuumed air or insulating gases. The two panes, and insulating gas, provide increased insulation to your home. The insulation double glazing provides comes with a number of benefits:

  • Increases the energy efficiency of your home
  • Reduces the cost of your energy bills
  • Reduces noise pollution
  • Increases safety
  • Temperature control for your home

It is common to see double-glazed windows with alternative framing options, such as timber or aluminium. At Thermotek Windows & Doors, our uPVC is a superior product, providing a tighter seal and requiring much less maintenance than its alternatives.

uPVC windows are a worthy upgrade to your double-glazed windows. Together, they provide your home with regulated temperatures year-round. In summer, your uPVC double-glazed windows will prevent excess heat from entering, and keep the cool air from fans or cooling units inside. The same is true in winter, where the cold air outside is kept at bay and your heater is able to do what it does best in a shorter amount of time! Single panes of glass don’t have this insulating quality, and you often find heat escaping your home in winter and entering in summer.

Price Factors

It is of course best to speak to a double-glazing professional to get an accurate quote for your uPVC windows. Generally speaking, the biggest factor in determining price is the size of your windows. Things such as the uPVC itself need to also be taken into account but are not as cost-effective as the double glazing itself.

Be sure to do your research to ensure you are not compromising on quality. Also, remember all the benefits double glazing provides – not only immediately, but for years to come!

Some more examples of uPVC double glazing benefits are:

  • Double-glazed uPVC windows last for 20 years or more on average
  • There is a substantial environmental benefit to installing double-glazed uPVC windows – you save up to 680kg of carbon emissions a year!
  • The value of your home is increased

Cost vs Quality

When building or renovating your home, it can easily become a question of cost vs quality. While you want to have a comfortable home, of course, cost needs to be taken into account. As mentioned above, it is vital to get multiple quotes to ensure you are getting a good deal on your glass and understand the companies who want to work with you. Working with an Australian company, which manufactures their own products, could save you money and time now, as well as in the future. It is also important to note that the cost of purchasing double-glazing windows may not be more expensive than standard windows, and there are a number of reasons for this.

The installation process generally costs the same. You also receive the long-term financial benefits of uPVC double-glazed windows, such as increasing the value of your home and saving on energy bills year-round. uPVC windows also look amazing, and can act as a real feature point for your home!

Investing in Australian-Made uPVC Double Glazing

When you purchase uPVC double-glazed windows from an overseas manufacturer, the standard you receive is best suited often to a European climate. In Australia, we face a multitude of different weather extremes, and these can be damaging to windows made to a lower standard. The harsh UV rays wear down lesser-quality windows, and can cause damage to your flooring, furniture and decrease the effectiveness of the windows themselves. Thermotek’s uPVC windows are Australian-made, for the Australian consumer. We believe that working with an Australian company not only provides you with the highest quality products but also allows for smooth communication and an easy customer experience.
