WINDOW CARE GUIDE
Caring for the Window Frame
Thermotek window frames consist of high-quality, weather-resistant, easy-to-clean materials. To clean the smooth, non-porous, and hygienic surface, use regular soapy water. You can wipe away any dirt or residue caused by dust or rain with ease. Avoid using abrasive substances or chemicals like nitro diluents, benzene, or similar agents.
Caring for the Gaskets
The gaskets on your uPVC windows consist of premium synthetic materials. These materials are resistant to weathering and aging. On a regular basis, remove any dust or dirt from the gaskets while cleaning your windows. Regular use of specialised silicone oils can enhance the gasket's flexibility and functionality.
Caring for Window Fittings
Maintain the smooth operation and functionality of your window fittings. Lubricate them on occasion. Apply a few drops of oil to the moving parts and use acid-free grease or Vaseline on the closing points. This will help preserve the functionality of your windows.
Ventilation and Heating
Thermotek's uPVC windows are airtight and sealed tight to the building structure. This limits natural air exchange. Proper ventilation can save heating costs and create a healthy indoor environment. Cross ventilation using two opposite windows is a quick and effective method. Opening the window for 5 minutes is enough to replace indoor air. A thorough airing of the rooms requires windows to be open in full for 10 minutes. For optimal results, ventilate your home three to four times a day. Ensure unobstructed airflow by keeping furniture away from windows. Ventilate kitchens and bathrooms more often. This is due to increased moisture levels from cooking, bathing, and showering. As a general rule, if your window gets fogged up, it's time to ventilate.
Initial Cleaning After Installation
There may be residues such as mortar, wallpaper paste, or adhesives. Use a semi-rigid putty knife to scrape off mortar and paint splatters with care. Follow up by wiping with a damp cloth. Be cautious not to scratch the surfaces with small sharp particles in the mortar. To remove residual adhesives on the glass surface, use a razor blade at an angle with care.
