7 STAR ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Thermotek assists builders and architects to achieve 7-star energy-rated homes. 

All new Australian homes must achieve a 7-star energy efficiency rating this year. New homes must meet specific standards to reduce their environmental impact and energy costs. These standards focus on insulation, glazing, ventilation, and other energy-saving features.

The requirements vary based on climate zones, but some of the key features include:

• High levels of insulation in the ceiling, walls, and floors
• Double-glazed windows with low-E coatings
• Draught-proofing and weather sealing
• Efficient heating and cooling systems
• Energy-efficient lighting
• Solar hot water systems or heat pump systems

Architects, builders and designers must also consider the following:

• The orientation of the home.
• The placement of windows and doors.
• The use of shading and landscaping to maximise natural light and ventilation while minimising heat gain or loss.
